Question
How long can I live on Atroiza?
18 June 2013. Related: All topics, Life expectancy.
I’m a girl aged 20 and I’m HIV positive. My CD4 is 174 and I’m taking atroiza.
I want to know how long can I live?
Answer
Hi,
Thanks for your email.
Having HIV can sometimes be difficult. But modern treatment is very effective. It means that you can have a near-normal life expectancy and a good quality of life.
Nobody can predict how long anyone will live. This depends on things you can change (smoking, exercise, medication) and thing you can’t (genetics and bad luck).
Do you have any support to deal with being HIV positive? If you are in South Africa you could contact the Treatment Action Campaign for information about treatment and support in your area.
The i-Base Introduction to combination therapy guide also has general information about treatment.
Atroiza is a generic version of Atripla.
Please me know if you have any questions or I can help further.
Hi Palesa, thanks, it is really goog that you are now on meds. Everyone responds differently but you Cd4 count should staedily get stronger again. Over the next year or so it shold get above 200 and then 300. For some people this can happen a bit more quickly r slowly.
Hy my name is Palesa and have recently tested positive with HIV, my CD4 count is 143, I have started treatment as I was sick, how long will my body take to recover?
Hi Makayla, thanks, I can’t expalin how you became positive, but it is good that you tested and that you are both now on treatment. Many people never find out how this happened, but looking forward is better because the meds mean you have a good future.
Hi I’m Makayla
I’ve been staying with my partner for 8 years
Me and my partner decided to go and test while testing we both found out that we were hiv positive we diceded to take our tablets the following day how possible
Hi Latoya, I am sorry to hear that you have recently tested positive. How are you coping? Do you know your husbands viral load? While taking medication can suppress viral load, if it is not below 200 the risk is only reduced and not prevented.
When did you last test before this?
