Can I still be negative when my partner has tested positive?

12 October 2016. Related: All topics, HIV testing, Sero different couples.

I had vaginal sex, like 5 times but at different days, at the end of that month. August we were tested, my partner was positive and i was negative, i ceased from any engagement for 2 months and i got tested in the dispensary by use of HIV test kit and my results were negative, is there any hope in the next test, because am waiting for the next vct for conclusions no symptoms until now, thanks.

Thanks, the test results after two months is a pretty good result to show you are still negative. The test centre will probably say three months is better, but it is pretty rare to need to take this long.

How is your partner doing? Is he coping okay and does he have access to treatment?

    Golf. My partner tested hiv+ and I tested hiv-. After 8 weeks I went for hiv test my results came out hiv-. Is my results conclusive in 8 weeks after nuprotected sex

    Hi Elias,

    How long have you been on ARVs for? What was your CD4 when you were diagnosed?

    Skin problems can and do to happen people, this is irrespective of a persons status. Going to the dermatologist sounds like the right thing to do. Could you please tell me what steroids they gave you. Where do you have abscess?

    I’m on alluvia and Truvada .My CD4 has being below the baseline, latest 271 done 2016 Dec 20. I have a bad skin condition. I’ve been to the dermatologist and been put on topical oral and inject-able steroids but I’m still in pain and my skin is bad. I’ve also got abscess. What must I do?
