Q and A

Question

Just starting meds, can I take them in the morning?

Hi, can I take my ARV in the morning after breakfast. I just found out that I’m HIV positive. Bulldozer.

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Its up to you when you take your medications. So, yes, you could take them in the morning. If, however your combination includes efavirenz the evening is usually better. And you need to take it on an empty stomach.

This guide to starting treatment is also full of useful information. https://i-base.info/guides/starting

    Hi tdk,

Because you’ve been on treatment for 2 years, its highly likely that your viral load is undetectable. Therefore, the risks of you transmitting HIV to your wife are close to zero. Please see the results of the PARTNER study for a detailed answer why:

I’ve been using tribuss for 2yrs, my wife is negative and also my 3 month old baby. Sometimes we do not use condoms. Can I infect her?
