Abbott drops lawsuit against community action
3 September 2007. Related: Treatment access.
On the opening day of the 4th IAS conference, the International AIDS Society convened and facilitated a meeting between Abbott and Act Up-Paris, where the company agreed to drop its lawsuit against the community group (see last issue of HTB).
The IAS press reports stated that Act Up-Paris and Abbott put forward their points of view regarding important issues related to the HIV/AIDS Pandemic, and that the two organisations agreed that their most important priority is to promote access to HIV prevention, treatment and care globally. They also agreed that access to information is important through all available communications channels (including websites and other media).
Immediately after the meeting, ACT-UP Paris issued a press release stating that they planned to organise similar protests against the Abbott website.
