Impact of US funding cuts in Malawi and South Africa: ITPC community report

ITPC Global

A community report on the impact of international funding cuts in Malawi and South Africa has been published as a preprint ahead of peer review.

South Africa lost 89% of its US funding, while Malawi lost 64%.

The community networks report disrupted services, cancelled research studies and closed clinics. This has led to denial of ART refills, even when stocks are available, and fears about losing ART in the future. HIV testing and PrEP are now largely unavailable to many.

The report also shows the importance of community-generated data io help protect health services.
