I have a CD4 of 714, when should i start ARVs?

I am based in South Africa, i have HIV and am 21 years old. My CD4 count is 714. When should i start ARVs?

Hi,

A CD4 count of 714 is strong. South African treatment guidelines recommend that you do not start treatment until your CD4 count is 350. This is unless there are other medical reasons to start earlier. So far research has not shown any long term health benefit to starting earlier. Wether a CD4 count changes slowly or quickly depends on an individual but it could be several years till you have to start treatment.
