How soon will my friends treatment take to work? His CD4 count is 36.

Found out yesterday that a friend had hiv his cd4 level is 36.

He started treatment today. How soon will the meds starts working?

It s good that your friend has started treatment before his CD4 count fell even lower.

The meds will start to work from day one.

Viral load drops first – even within the first week. Then as viral load gets lower the CD4 count start to increase. So if you were able to test now, it is likely you would already see a difference.

Most people have undetectable viral load within 2-3 months and the CD4 count will have increased by then too.
