Hi, your comment is anonymous, but HIV treatment is free for everyone in the UK and there is HIV is not tested for when applying to live or stay here.

Dear kpr, yes HIV treatment is free so long as you and your family are living in the UK. HIV status does not affect applications to live here.

Based on all the comments I came to conclusion that treatment and ARV are free for international students in UK.but I want to know whether same treatment is available during post study visa period which is of two years.

also if I start working there in UK can I opt for treatment for free and any testing during applying for PR or even citizenship??

will my wife and children get treatment by NHS under dependents?

    please reply

Hi I am HIV positive and want to pursue my masters in UK.Based on all the reply’s I came to conclusion that treatment and ARV are free for students also.Is it still the same??

I also want to know whether same treatment is available for me or not during post-study Visa period of 2 years.

if I start working as a full time employee there in UK will i get same treatment and will same treatment be available for my family who are also positive and dependent on me during my full-time work in UK.

will my status be checked if I apply for PR or citizenship??

    Hi S.M,

Yes, your sister can be granted a work visa. There are no requirements for HIV testing to be granted a visa. As for her role as a nursing aid, if she will be performing procedures that involve exposure to blood she will require be required to disclose her status but this will not impact her working. Rather she will need to maintain an undetectable viral load and have regular clinical monitoring. Being HIV positive and/or declining a test should not affect employment.

    Hi Sri,

ARVs are free for anyone who lives in the UK, this includes non UK nationals and students.
When you come over it’s best to bring a few months supply of ARVs with you and if you can your healthcare history.

If you can tell me which city/town you’re going to be living in I can tell you were your nearest clinic will be.

Once you get to the UK all you have to do is contact a clinic, they’ll then arrange an appointment to see you.

    Hi,

While coming to UK for higher studies, do we need to inform the clinic in UK in advance for medications or we can get settled with the clinic on reaching UK?

And do we need to mention it in the insurance or the ART is irrespective of that? Can we get ARTs even if we don’t mention HIV status in insurance?

    Hi AJ,

We can’t comment on the visa application process as we don’t work in this sector. However, you HIV positive status won’t be an issue if you want to come to the UK. If you do come to the UK, you’ll be able to access ARVs and for free.

Hello why applying for student visa we need to go for medical insurance Do we need to declare our status for the insurance or is it ok we don’t and go for the process?
Also how are the regulations for post study work permit and visas for PR process? Is there any restriction in the process for medicals ?
I am opting for masters in UK and would wish to stay longer in UK so I would wanted to know the process earlier
