Q and A

Question

My viral load is 20, can I transmit?

My viral load is 20. When I was having sex with my boyfriend the condom burst. Is he at risk?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Because your viral load is undetectable, you cannot transmit HIV through sexual intercourse. Please see here for more info:

Hi Abiola – thanks, so long as there are no other medical concerns, hthere is no reason to have a C-section if you prefer a natural birth.

Advice on breastfeeding can be different depending on which country you are in. This is why it is uimportant to talk to your doctor or clinic about this.

In countries where care in based on World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, breastfeeding is recommended as the best way to feed your baby when viral load is undetectable.

    Hi Precious,

If your husband is negative this would indicate that you were positive before you entered into a sexual relationship with him.
