Hi, is it okay to drink my ARVs (TLD) with mineral spring water? I have noticed the water contains calcium, I am worried if this will interact with my ARVs.

Hi, how are you?
Yes, you can drink water while taking your ARVs. Calcium levels within mineral water are minute and will not cause an interaction with your medication. Calcium supplements would be required to be taken at a different time due to potential interaction, this would be due to the high calcium level affecting how well Dolutegravir works. Dolutegravir being one of the active ingredients within TLD.

Hi, I’m on PEP and just took a Biktarvy pill with sparkling water, online I read that taking meds with sparkling water fasten the absorption and so it reduces the effectiveness.
Should I take another pill with still water?

ARVs don’t interact with food or drinks.
Water will not affect their effectiveness.

Hi Bongani, yes, LTD – also sometimes called TLD – can be taken with juice instead of water.
