Question

What is the window period for antigen-antibody tests?

What is the window period for a CMIA (Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immuno Assay) test that detects for HIV-1 and HIV-2 antigen and antibody?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

The window period for the CMIA test is 3-4 weeks. This test is the same as the p24 test. More information about the CMIA and p24 tests can be found by following this link

I’m sorry but i-Base no longer answers individual questions about risks of HIV transmission or HIV testing, although because you used a condom you would not be at risk of HIV.

This service is based on information relating to treatment of people who are HIV positive.

Most questions about transmission and testing have been answered here:

Recently I have done an HIV test whose results is Non – Reactive (0.21) by Detection of HIV p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV type 1and/or type 2, CMIA test.

The report also says ANTI HCV as indeterminate by ELISA and advised for HCV RNA test.

Can you please help me by telling what does it actually mean?? Am I a carrier of HIV virus?? Is this result is something serious ???
