Question
Can I switch from Luvigen to Acriptega?
16 February 2022. Related: Access to treatment, Adherence, All topics, Changing treatment.
Is there a problem changing medicine? I was previously given Luvigen and now given Acriptega. I’m currently 8 months pregnant. From South Africa.
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Luvigen and Acriptega are the same medication. The difference is they are made by different companies. They are both a combination of TLD.
There is no risk to you or baby for switching from Luvigen to Acriptega. This is a link to a guide about different names of TLD medications.
In general, even switching between different combinations of HIV medication is not going to put you are risk for viral rebound. People are often switched for cost reasons and access to medication but it will not put your health at risk.
Josh.
