Q and A

Question

I took the morning dose of Paxlovid in the evening.

I accidentally took the morning dose of Paxlovid in the evening. Is that a problem?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Did you not take the morning dose? and instead you only had Paxlovid in the evening?

As with most medication, this is likely to be fine. Continue taking your medication when you were originally meant to.

If you notice any side effects/unexpected symptoms please speak to a pharmacist/doctor.

Hi Michael, yes it is okay to do this. Take the morning dose at 1:30pm and the evening dose at 9:30pm.

Then continue with the remaining doses at 9:30 am for the morning doses and 9:30pm for the evening doses. This will allow the majority of the course to be taken 12 hours apart to ensure it is effective as it can be.

I just received my Paxlovid at !:30 pm is it okay to take my first does now and my ssecond at 9:30 this evening?

Hi Joe, yes you should still take it. It does not matter if you take your last dose in the morning or evening as long as you complete the course of Paxlovid.

    Hello,
I took the evening dose of Plaxlovid when I got the prescription, however, on day five I will only have the morning dose left (the one I didn’t take the day of the prescription), should I still take that morning dose or consider myself done?

Hi Felicia, Paxlovid should be taken every 12 hours for the duration of the course of Paxlovid (5 days).

What side effects have you noticed? and do you think your treatment is helping with Covid and the flu?

It is most likely that your headache has been caused flu/covid. Taking medication is going to help with this and hopefully the headache will not last.

It would be okay to take a pian killer alongside paxlovid to help with this headache while you are taking it. Only taking Paxlovid for this one dose will mean you do not get any benefit from taking the treatment and it will risk you having more symptoms caused by flu/covid.

Ok my symptoms started Wednesday but I went to the doctor Thursday and I was told I had Covid and flu but I just started my medicine today because it just came in and I took the morning dose at 12 pm and I really don’t want to take the other dose because I have a headache is it ok if I don’t take anymore

Hi Amy, as you have started today you can take an evening dose at the time you would wish to continue your treatment.

E.g., 10pm. From this point you can continue Paxlovid at 10am and 10pm for the duration of the course.

Aside from this first dose as you have taken it in the afternoon, there should be a 12 hour gap between doses to make sure the treatment is as effective as it can be.

    Hi
I started my first dose of Paxlovid today at 2 pm when I got it from the pharmacy . Should I take another dose late tonight or wait till morning?

Hi Nicole, yes this will be okay.

As you are taking your evening dose at 10pm, it will then e recommended to take your treatment at 10 am and pm each day.
