Q and A

Question

Can I take my booster before Rifafour?

Hi all, I am on Tb treatment and I am on ARVs. They added a booster. They said it ensures the ARVs stay as long as possible.
Does it work still if you take the booster evening and ARVs in the morning

Rifafour after noon? She insisted it be Rifafour then an hour later booster/arv, but the nausea from so many tablets at night because I chose night. Would it cause problems? Who else has been put on booster?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Can you tell me the name of the ARVs and the booster you are on?

The booster and the ARVs should be taken together. This is because the booster is used to keep the ARV active in the body for longer.

If you take these at different times, the booster can only help increase how much ARV is in th body by 12 hours, rather than the 24 hours it should be used for.

Your ARVs/booster can be taken more than an hour after Rifafour. Have you started a time to take Rifafour?

To avoid any potential interactions it would be recommended there be at least 6 hours between both treatments. You could take your ARVs at 07:00 and then Rifafour at 13:00? Would this work for you?

Hopefully the nausea will wear off soon. How badly do you experience it? Is it there all the time or only when you are taking your treatment? If over time the nasuea does not go away you can speak to the doctor and they might be able to treat this symptom separately.

Josh.
