How have I contracted HIV?

I tested HIV negative in February 2018 and since then I never had intercourse with anybody until 2023 October when I slept with the very man I had in 2017. Today I went for testing and the result is positive, how have I contacted it?

Have you had a second test to confirm your result? and have you started treatment?

Have you been told what your CD4 count and viral load is?

And do you know the status of your partner?

When you had sex did you use a condom? Other factors that can change transmission risk via sex is explained here.

How have you been since testing positive? Do you have a support network around you e.g., friends, family, even your doctor?
