Q and A

Question

If I can’t access ARVs can diet and supplements help?

I’m unable to take my antivirals med but my viral load went from 259,000 copies to 101,000 copies, I take herbs & eat right

Answer

Hi there

Please try to find a ways to get HIV meds again.

If this is because of cost, most US States sill run free access programmes like ADAP.

A viral load of 101,000 is very high and is already causing HIV complications, even if you feel okay.

At this level there isn’t really any difference between this and 259,000.

Eating a balanced diet is good for your general health but this will not affect HIV or viral load.

So-called supplements unfortunately will not help either.

Hello Lyn and thank you for the question.
I am very sorry you feel so rough.
Can you please send some more information?
Have you only been on Cabenuva?
Or are you taking with other medication too?

I had to stop taking ARVs because of a painful debilitating effect the drugs are causing which keep me confined to my bed & unable to care for myself, Is there any way to remove the ARV Injection (Cabenuva) from my body should it cause me pain or will I be in that painful state until the medication runs it 30 day course?
