Hi. Can I marry if I am HIV positive? I am only 28 male, and just diagnosed. How long I can live if I start HAART in future? Do you also think there will be more treatement options in future? Thank you
Answer
Yes, most countries have no legal obstacles against marriage, though many countries do have laws that saw you need to tell your partner about your HIV status. There are some countries where discrimination limits human rights, so it also depends where you live.
Many HIV positive men get married – to partners who are either HIV positive or HIV negative. If their partner is HIV-negative it is still possible to have children

Hello Uncle Sam and thanks for getting in touch.
You might have noticed I have changed the wording in your question.
I did this on purpose to highlight that people living with HIV are still people and not the virus they are living well.
Your fiancé’s HIV status does not affect you in the slightest.
If your fiancé is on medication and undetectable this means she cannot pass on HIV to you or the children you will have together.
It also means she is the safest choice for you.
As she cannot pass on HIV, you are absolutely safe having sex with her.
In the rare scenario your fiancé is not on medication yet, please support her so she can start.
This will ensure a long, full and active life for her and you.

What should I do
Hi Sinet, thanks. HIV shouldn’t affect whether of not you have a child. HIV meds with protect you baby and your partner too if needed. Your clinic shold also help with advice if you are trying to conceive but this isn’t successful.
Will I ever have a child since I’m positive
