Q and A

Question

Is my headache a symptom of HIV?

Hi

I had unprotected sex with someone in September 2008. I had HIV test in December 2008 and it came out negative. Again I had tests in January and August 2009 and both came out negative.

I don’t know what type of tests they did. The result showed anti-HIV antibody is negative. Is this test reliable or should I go for another test?

I had a bad headache 6 months ago and the doctor diagnosed it as migraine and at present I am having repeated episodes of bad headache. Is this a symptom of HIV?

August 2011.

Answer

Thank you for your question.

Having migraine is not a symptom of HIV infection. You can discuss the headache with your doctor as this may be symptom for something. For information on HIV seroconversion symptoms.

It is clear from your email you have tested at all the required period. All your results show that you do not have HIV.

You can ask your doctor for the type of HIV test that was used. All test for HIV are reliable as shown in the link above.

I had sex with someone with condom however, I had a small cut on upper part of waste which I fear may contact lady’s body fluid.
After 3 weeks my wife is complaining of headache and small fever and joint pain. Could that be a sign of HIV infection?

I had a protected sex with someone. The next morning I felt my penis was itching…it behaved so for three weeks especially when I was peeing.this is my third month since then… I have tested for HIV wich is showing that am negative.but most of the times am experiencing headaches….does it mean I might be infected.
