    Hi Zukiswa,

Because you’re pregnant its very important that you begin ARVs as soon as possible. And this is regardless of what your CD4 count it.

Being on treatment is important because it will reduce the risk of transmission to your baby. For more info please see here:

Being on treatment will also reduce the risk of transmission to your husband. For more info please see the results of the PARTNER study.

    Hi Malesh,

How are you coping with your diagnoses? Are you able to get any support? Do you know when you’ll be starting meds?

A CD4 of 19 is low, therefore its important that you start treatment as soon as possible. For more info please see here:

Other than your HIV, do you have any other health problems? Is yes, what are they?

Even if a CD4 of 19 is low, this does not mean that you are going to die. Lots of people are diagnosed with low CD4s and they recover, and recover quickly. What’s important is that you start meds.

    Hey
I’m positive, and my CD4 is 19. Can it kill me? I’m still waiting for treatment.

Hi Mlu, the term “AIDS” is not really used any more, just HIV. I don’t know why your doctor does not give you the CD4 count. Please ask if this is being done and what the result is. HIV treatment is very good. You can use is for many years – until there is a cure :)
