Question
A chat facility?
16 September 2008. Related: All topics.
I wondered if I may make a suggestion about this site? Firstly i-Base is a fantastic resource for people with or without HIV, and this must be the most informative site in the UK. Having said that as somebody living with HIV, I would find it really useful if there was an on-line forum or live chat facility on here. The Body (an equivalent to your site in the US) has this facility and it has been very well received. It allows people to talk to others about their experiences and obtain valuable peer support, something that is somewhat lacking in the UK. I would be really interested on your views about this.
Many thanks for all you do.
Answer
Hi there and thanks for yor nice words.
We completely agree that a chat and forum is something useful and really lacking in the UK at the moment. Hence, we are considering it very seriously and have made the first steps. It takes some time to properly plan and organise it though-moderation, technicalities, IT, etc. We see it ready and active in 3-4 months from now.
So, a bit of patience, please :). In the meantime, I would suggest the treatment forum of the UKCAB (UK Community Advisory Board) if you are not a member of it yet. It is quite active and covers a very diverse set of aspects of living with HIV. The site is: http://www.ukcab.net/
Take care!

Hi Ben,
You’re doing fine. Your HIV is 100% under control. It’s under control because your viral load is undetectable, so less than 50copies ml.
As you adhere to your meds (it’s ok to take them a few hours either side of your normal time) the CD4 will simply be a CD4 fluctuation. These happen all the time and are normal.
Hello. I was diagnosed in Feb 2017, and got it from a needle stick injury, and was started on Triumeq taken once a day, in March 2017. VL of 96K, CD4 243 (19%) at diagnosis. My VL < 20 and CD4 was 508 in Aug 2017. I have been following up with my doc every 6 months, and VL has always been < 20. CD4 was not repeated until earlier this year. My VL was 23, CD4 485 (26%), CD8 645 (35%), CD4:CD8 0.75. Should I be worried with these results?
I have been compliant to Triumeq, target time at 9:30pm, but I usually take it between 9:15-9:45pm. Is this acceptable? I have been feeling the same, no symptoms. Just anxious about my condition and wondering if i would develop resistance to my treatment or develop any complications or AIDS.
I have been keeping myself physically active, doing moderate intensity cardio workouts 3-4 times a week, for 45 minutes each session and gymming 4 times a week 60 minutes each session. I don’t engage in any high risk activities, I don’t take alcohol, I don’t smoke, I have not engaged in sexual activities with anyone, and I don’t do drugs at all. I try to keep my meals healthy.
I am worried and occasionally feeling stressed especially with all these results. Am I doing the right things to keep my condition under control? Why did the CD4 drop, and could it be because of the raised VL? Did it go up because of my poor adherence to the time of my ARVs?
Hi Rajiv,
I hope you don’t mind but I’ve made your comment a bit smaller.

Should I take PEP?
Does PEP medication effects on liver?
