How much is it for the drugs?
My CD4 is 860,how well am I doing? Thank you.
Answer
The cost of HIV drugs is different in different countries. In some countries HIV drugs are available free through the government. Without knowing where you live I can’t tell you if you would have to pay for treatment, or how much.
A CD4 of 860 is very good. A ‘normal’ CD4 count for somebody who is HIV negative is around 500 or above. So your immune system is very strong. Most guidelines- including the UK and South Africa- recommend starting treatment when your CD4 count is 350 or less. A few countries- including the USA- recommend treatment when you have a CD4 count of 500 or less. Please take a look at this link for more information about CD4 counts.
