I’m 19 weeks pregnant and just been diagnosed with HIV, when should I start treatment? Will my baby be OK?
Answer
Thanks for getting in touch.
Because you’re pregnant its important to start medication as soon as you can. Not only will the medication, so ARVs control your HIV they also help reduce the risk of transmission to your baby. Please see here: https://i-base.info/guides/pregnancy
At this point in time its not possible for anyone to say if your baby will be OK or not. However treatment is the best option.
