Estou recebendo o melhor tratamento? (Am I getting the best treatment?)

I am 74 years old, with an undetectable viral load. I have been taking Kivexa and Kaletra for 2 years. I have lost a lot of weight, have a general unwell feeling, and leg pain. I have glaucoma in one eye, and require a cataract operation. Could this be related to my medication? Is any risk involved with my cataract operation?

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you have been unwell. But the many of the ailments you describe are too general to put down to HIV medication alone. HIV on its own and getting older tend can also have an impact on your general health and well being. I especially do not think that glaucoma is a side effect of your medication. As far as your glacouma operation is concerned, it is best that you tell the doctor about the medication you are taking to make sure it does not interact with anything else he/she might want you to take.
