Can Truvada and Sustiva (efavirenz) cause fat loss?

I’ve been on Truvada and Sustiva for 7 months and I’m doing well. I was diagnosed 13 months ago now. I would like ur advice on facial and body fat loss or wasting? Is it likely to happen on this combination?

Most people put on a little weight over the first six month of treatment, but this then usually levels off.
Fat loss is mainly reported with d4T and AZT, and using alternatives is recommended.
Efavirenz ‘may’ be linked to fat loss – his only showed in one study called ACTG 5142. The risk looks very low. As with most side effects, you and your doctor should monitor anything you are concerned about, and if you are having problems, then swithcing to alternative treatments should usually be possible.
