Timing for starting Sustiva + Truvada combination?

Hi guys
If one is starting HAART with Sustiva and Truvada, is it possible to take both tablets at the same time for ease around work schedules etc or do you have to take Truvada in the morning and Sustiva in the evening?
Answer
There is lots of flexibility in timing. Efavirenz is nearly always best at night so you sleep through the highest drug levesl when the side effects are worse. Don’t take it close to a high fat meal.
You can take Truvada at night or in the morning, but in Europe the recommendation is to take it with food. So if you take it at night, take this with your dinner a few hours before the efavirenz.
Once your viral load is undetectable it is fie to take them all together and not worry about the food with Truvada.
