Q and A

Question

Why have i been changed from Atroiza to Tribuss?

My clinic just changed me from Tribuss to Atroiza. What is the problem? Will i get side effects?

Answer

Hi,

Tribuss and Atroiza are both generic versions (copies) of a pill called Atripla. They all contain the same ingredients and work in the same way. They only have different names because they are made by different companies.

Because they both contain the same ingredients you should not get any new side effects.

You can find more information about Atripla/Atroiza/Tribuss in our online HIV meds guide.

Hi Monica, did you get your medication from the same clinic? There are a number of different variations of Atroiza that may look different (Atroiza is a generic version of Atripla). Though these are the same medications. If you are experiencing new side effects this needs mentioning to your doctor.

    Hi Busi,

Lots of people are being switch to TLD. TLD has less side effects than Atrozia, it can however cause people to gain weight- please see here: https://i-base.info/guides/14970

    Hi Lerato,

First, congratulations on the news that you’re going to have a baby.

It’s great that you’ve started HIV treatment (ART) and that you don’t miss a single pill. That’s because ART is the best way to protect your health and your baby’s health. So it sounds like you’re doing all you can.

Please see the guide to HIV pregnancy and women’s health. There’s lots of info in this guide including during pregnancy, delivering your baby, and for after your baby is born.
