Question

What is Atroiza used for?

Answer

Atroiza is a combination pill that contains three HIV drugs. It is a generic version of Atripla.

It is mainly used to treat HIV.

However, in some countries the same drugs (efavirenz/tenofovirDF/emtricitabine) are used as PEP to prevent HIV infection.

This is not recommended in the UK or in other guidelines. which recommend different HIV drugs for PEP. This is because of concerns about efavirenz side effects in HIV negative people.

See: PEP, PEPSE and PrEP.

    Hi Zodwa,

You should try to take your meds at roughly the same time everyday. A few hours here and there however, will be fine.

    Hi Anonymous,

If you’re worried that you may have contract HIV, you will need to test. However, its important to know that if your man is on meds and has been since you started dating, the risk of transmission is close to zero. For more info, please see here:

    Hi Anonymous,

What Atrozia is used for is discussed in the above post. If you are unsure as to why your boyfriend is using it, you’ll need to ask him.

    Hi Thobile,

If you’re on medication for HIV how long have you been on it for? And what are you taking?

Losing weight for some people can be difficult and it usually requires a healthy diet and also exercise. The weight gain that is concerning you, has this been gradual or has it happened in a short space of time? Is it something that you’ve talked to your doctor about?

    Hi Gugu,

Atenef and Atrozia are the same thing, this being generic forms of Atripla. Therefore, just take the Atrozia like you were taking the Atenef.

My doctor just changed me from Atenef to Atroiza. How do I take them?
