I have been HIV positive for a year now and i haven’t received my treatment yet because my CD4 count is 970. Now I am 2 months pregnant, do i have to take my medication now?
Answer
Hi,
You can take HIV treatment at any CD4 count. As your CD4 count is still strong, this may have been the reason you weren’t recommended up until now. Please see our guide on starting treatment for more info.
All HIV positive pregnant women are recommended to take HIV meds. This is the best way to prevent transmission to your baby. Our guide on pregnancy has more details.
Good luck with your pregnancy.
