How can I be positive and my husband and children be negative?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

When did you find out about your status? and are you taking treatment?

Being HIV positive does not mean that your partner and children will also be HIV positive. Transmission is not a sure thing. If you are on treatment with a suppressed viral load, it is not possible for you to pass on HIV. This is called U=U.

There are a number of other factors that can change risk of transmission. These are explained here. When was your husband last tested?

Josh.
