Hello guys, I am testing HIV my self but my results show i’m positive. Now what can I do and what medication can I take to protect my self?
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
How do you feel about testing positive? Have you been to see a doctor to have your results confirmed?
When testing positive you should start anti-retroviral therapy (ART) as soon as you can. Apart from having your positive status confirmed, there are no more tests you need to do before starting treatment.
ART is a combination of 3 drugs (usually as 1 tablet) and is a daily treatment. It is used to suppress HIV in your body and stop it damaging your immune system. ART will also help to prevent transmission to other people.
This is a guide about starting ART.
