Question
What is my life expectancy?
1 December 2023. Related: All topics, CD4 and viral load, Living with HIV long-term, Newly diagnosed.
I wonder if taking 1 pill Acriptega of my entire life, what will happen to my organs like liver etc?
Also, what is my life expectancy?
I’m 25 years old, my cd4 is 400.
I started treatment, but I’m worrying about HIV.
The reason for this HIV is a topic which is censored on the internet. When we search for HIV, people living with HIV came to results, and some positive things like “you are not going to die”
How can a deadly virus looks so innocent on the internet?
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
It is great that you have started treatment. How are you adjusting to taking it everyday?
And how is everything going with being HIV positive?
Acriptega is safe to take for life. Did you have any tests done before starting it?
The only time it is recommended to be regularly monitored is if you have problems with your kidneys already. If your kidneys are fine, it won’t be a problem taking Acriptega long term.
In most cases people living with HIV will have a similar life expectancy to someone HIV negative.
This is because treatment works so well at suppressing HIV and stopping it damaging your immune system, that it no longer has an effect on your health.
How long have you been on treatment? Your CD4 count is still slightly low. A healthy range is between 430 and 1690. Though it would be expected in the next few months that you recover to a healthy CD4 count.
Some people even find your life expectancy can be slightly longer than someone HIV negative. This is because being HIV positive leads you to being involved in your own healthcare more. This allows for earlier detection of other problems and sorting treatment/adjusting lifestyle earlier.
Josh.
Hi Raka, your tests are conclusive. You do not have HIV and you do not require any further tests.
