Q and A

Question

Can I have a baby?

I am a man with HIV who has an undetectable viral load and CD4 count that exceeds 1000 and taking medications regularly. Is it possible for me to have a baby by natural means?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Yes this is possible. As you are on treatment with an undetectable viral load there is no risk of transmission to your partner. You can have sex without a condom and it will be impossible to pass on HIV via sex.

This also extends to baby and as HIV cannot be passed on to your partner, HIV cannot be passed on to their pregnancy.

You can have a baby via natural means.

Josh.
