Q and A

Question

What if I sleep with people after stopping meds?

What happen if I stop my medication and sleep with different people who don’t have HIV?

Answer

Hi there

Thanks – your question covers two different things.

One is about your stopping you meds.

Do you mean just missing one or two doses? Or do you means stopping for a longer times.

If you are stopping for a while, this will have implications for your own health first. Your viral load will rebound and your CD4 counts will start to drop. This will risk you haveing HIV-trlated complcations.

Why do you want to stop?

You also ask about partners who are HIV negative. Having sexual partners means you need to use condoms again or else there is a risk of your partner’s becoming HIV positive.

One of the advantages of being on treatment is that the meds also protect your partners.
