Question
I had protected sex do I have HIV?
30 July 2010. Related: All topics, HIV testing, HIV transmission.
Hi,
I had vaginal protected sex with a woman. After I finished I noticed two dry blood stains in my groin area. She was starting to have her period. Also one week earlier I gave her oral sex for about 30-40 seconds.
One week after the second sexual encounter I started having fever, chills, cold-sores, muscle aches and sneezing which have been going on and off for about 5 weeks now.
Those symptoms did not come all at the same time. 23 days after possible exposure I had an INSTI blood rapid test done which came back negative. I will have another test at 8 week mark. What are the chances that my test will turn positive? Thanks
Answer
Thank you for your question.
The chance of your second test coming back positive are close to zero as you have not exposed yourself to HIV. If you had sex with a condom as you state above then you cannot get HIV. Giving a woman oral sex also caries no risk of transmission.

Please advice me based on the following situation.
I had protected sex with a sex worker at night and I took in a drink with 10% alcohol in the afternoon . I am not confident that the condom used was made of latex. Is there a possibility of contacting an std?

Hi,
You are not at risk of HIV because the sex was protected.
