Answer

Hi there

Thanks – for send you Q and allowing us to answer online.

My first concern is about your health and why you decided to stop ART?

Treatment is so important for you, especially if you were doing well and had an undetectable viral load.

Was this related to side effects or getting access to treatment? Or something else?

Are you able to contact your doctor or clinic to talk about this? They will really want to hear from you so they can help.

The second issues is also really important.

If you are not using condoms with your partner and if your partner is not using PrEP, there is a very high risk that your partner could become HIV positive.

Your viral load is still likely to stay undetectable for the first few weeks after stopping ART, but it is likely to be rebounding now. After 3-4 weeks your viral load is at risk of becoming very high, and not just rebounding a little.

Until you are able to restart treatment again, there is a high risk of transmitting HIV to your partner.
