Q and A

Question

Can I take Acriptega at night?

Hi, I am taking Acriptega pills in the morning. Can I change this and take them at night?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Yes you can take Acriptega at night. Sometimes people experience insomnia when taking Acriptega at night which is why it is started in the morning. But if taking your medication in the morning is not suitable, it is safe to do so at night.

To switch you will need to take your morning dose, followed by an evening dose. Continue then taking your medication in the evening. On this first day you may experience more pronounced side effects for the time there is a high level of drug in your body. This should settle soon after.

Hi A, Acriptega is a generic version of TLD. TLD is used as an ARV or PEP. It is not used as PrEP.

For more information about PrEP please see here: https://i-base.info/guides/prep

Hi Patricia, if your HIV meds include a drug called doultegravir, then it should be better to take it in the morning. You can try taking it at night to see if this helps – and if you find this easier, it if fine to switch to night time dosing. If it doesn’t help though, please talk to your doctor in case a different medicine might be better. Best wishes, Simon

Hi A, I think you might be taking Acriptega. If yes, then this is a generic version of an HIV combination, alo called TLD.

You can still have good sex with yout partner, but need to keep using condoms until yout viral load becomes undetectable. This might take a few months although sometimes it can be faster or a bit slower than this. Some guidelines recommend waiting for six months after the viral load has been undetectable see this link about U-U:
