Question

Switching from Aluiva and Dumiva to Acriptega…

I have been taking Aluvia and Dumiva for years and now they change my meds to Acriptega the reason being they don’t order alluvia and Dumiva anymore.
I am also on diabetes meds and I don’t feel comfortable with changing meds because this is my 2nd regime. I also experienced kidneys problems but the nurse doesn’t care about my concerns.

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

I am sorry to hear that your nurse is not listening to your concerns. Have you been able to speak with anyone else about this?

Do you mean Aluvia + Dumiva is your second combination, or switching to Acriptega will be your second? Have you been on any different combinations before this?

Is your concern switching and your kidney problems, or is there anything additional you are worried about?

What is your current CD4 count and viral load?

Switching to Acriptega is very common and often happens for the reason that this has been suggested to you – no longer ordering older combinations.

Acriptega is a generic version of TLD. It is more commonly used due to fewer side effects and people often tolerating it better. There is some association with kidney problems but this is managed with monitoring and depending on what your current problems are.

What are the diabetes meds you are on?

As your current regimen is no longer being ordered it does mean that a switch is likely what will be needed. Has any other combinations been offered to you if you are not comfortable with Acriptega?

Josh.
