Question

What will happen to me if my boyfriend is taking Acriptega and I don’t?

What will happen to me if my boyfriend is taking Acriptega and I don’t?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Are you HIV positive or negative?

If you are positive, why are you not wanting to take ARVs? If you are not taking treatment and have sex with your boyfriend, there is no risk of resistance for your boyfriend to this medication. Though your own HIV will not be treated.

If you are HIV negative and your boyfriend is taking Acriptega, this means that risk of transmission can be reduced and ultimately prevented. When viral load is suppressed by medication to below 200, HIV cannot be transmitted by sex. This is explained by U=U.

Josh.

    Dear Regina.

Thanks – Acriptega is a generic versions of tenofovir DF (TD), lamivudine (3TC) and dolutegravir in a single pill (TLD).

This HIV combination doesn’t usually cause people to become more lean, so please talk to your doctor about this. Your doctor should measure and weigh you to see how this changes over time. Also to see if anything has changed since you started treatment.

Hi Mpho, Telatri can be used to treat and/or prevent HIV. Have you discussed with your husband why he has these pills?

Hi Terence, while this is not recommended as you are unaware of your status, being on Acriptega will mean there is no risk of transmission.

Even if PEP fails (which is rare), Acriptega will suppress HIV to prevent risk of transmission to your partner.

Hi Finn, yes you are allowed to do sport. As long as you feel up to it being on PEP should not stop you from doing sport.

Yes you can kiss someone. HIV cannot be transmitted by kissing.

For information about transmission please see here: https://i-base.info/qa/factsheets/hiv-transmission-and-testing

    Hello,

I’m negative so far but 4 days ago I had intercourse with someone which I can not ask anymore and I am not sure about her health state. So I directly went to the doc and got agriptega.

First two days were with really bad side effects. I had blowing headaches and couldn’t breath well for hours. Day 3 is ok now. Just feeling a bit tired. It’s getting better I guess.
My question is, am I allowed to do sport again, as soon as I feel better?

Because now, when I flex certain muscles, sometimes I feel a stitch in some areas of the muscle flexed.

And another question, am I allowed to kiss someone, without having worries of infection, in the case I am infected now? And what about oral pleasure. Me to her, or otherwise?

    Thank you so far
