Hi! I am 35 years and started taking my tribuss pill in February 2012. My problem is that I cant take the pill on an empty stomach. Can this make the pill to disfunction?
Answer
Hi,
Thank-you for your question.
Tribuss is a generic combination treatment which contains three HIV drugs. These are efavirenz, FTC and tenofovir. In the UK, this combination in a single pill is called Atripla.
Tribuss is usually recommended to be taken on an empty stomach is to reduce side effects. This is up to 60% more efavirenz is absorbed if it is taken with a high fat meal.
This would mean there is more efavirenz than you need and you may be more likely to get side effects. Side effects from efavirenz include dizziness, mood changes and sleep disturbance. Please follow this link for more information about efavirenz side effects.
However, the increased levels of efavirenz are connected to a high fat meal.
If you prefer to take Tribuss with some food this is fine, just not with fatty foods.
Please let me know if you have any more questions!

You should ask your doctor why you are being given purbac. If you have had pneumonia in the past you may be given this to stop it coming back. Or there may be another reason why you are getting this. It’s important not to stop taking this without speaking to your doctor first.
yes it was 290 on sep and i start using tribuss and purbac
Hello,
Thanks for your email. Purbac is an antibiotic used to help prevent you getting pneumonia. People usually take this everyday while their CD4 count is under 200. Do you know what your CD4 count is?
hi im on tribuss is it neccessary to take purbac every day please reply urgently
Hi Nox, this is possible- please see this previous question for more info!
Hi, Rebecca tel me i want have a baby with negative lady. But i dont want to infecct her so how that is possible?
If you have been adhering well before now then you would be very unlucky to develop resistance in two days. Atripla/Tribuss are quite forgiving- resistance would be more likely with different drug combinations. For more information please see this previous question.
Hi Rebecca, I have been on Atripla/ Tribuss from 2011/08/25, I have missed my dose yesterday and today and I will only be able to access my meds tomorrow, will I develop resistance during this two days,
Although I was little bit worried because I missed a few doses. But my doctor said my health is in good condition and I am not prepared to miss any doses now!
